Keeping Fit without the Strain: E-Bikes
May 22nd, 2009Are you lacking exercise? It’s a normal feeling - we recognize this, and still many things get in our way of actually working out. You see individuals crowded into gyms doing workouts, and consider : I must go to the gym, pay my membership fee, then get to do some exercise. It seems like loads of trouble, isn’t there something I can do that’s not going to blow a lot of my precious time - even something practical?
You might consider bicycling, as biking around is a great means to get fit. You can bike to work or to the shops, so it’s very useful. It’s also very cheap - there’s no petrol called for and the running costs are next to nothing. It’s also very “green”. Oh, and it improves your health too!
But many individuals are put off getting a bicycle because it’s just TOO much exercise. As odd as it may sound, it could be because they might live in a hilly location, be aged or have a particular ailment that make biking too “hardcore” for their abilities. Also for some individuals, it’s not pragmatic biking to their work since they will sweat too much because of the efforts of pedaling.
Now it’s time to talk about e-bikes, or electric bikes. Electric bikes give you a rest on the tricky slopes simply by turning your hand on the handlebar and allowing the electric motor kick in - you don’t need to do any peddling then. Then when you’re ready to switch to manual, just start pedalling. You get gentle exercise and fresh air without doing yourself in. Electric bikes are also cheap to operate requiring only a daily recharge if you cycle around 20 to 30 kilometres per day, although most people require only two re-charges a week since they’re not doing this kind of distance. If you’re looking for a low cost e-bike, there are plenty of cheap electric bikes online.
These days the actual cost of buying an electric bike have come right down in price, so you can find yourself saving a considerable amount of money on gym memberships, fuel, bus fares etc. by purchasing and regularly using an electric bike.
